How do you prepare for auditions? ~ StarsQA Team
I prepare for auditions as follows:
1 - I first read through the description of the character and the sides to
get a good idea of what's going on in the scene;
2 - I learn my lines (without emotion) so that I'm confident I know exactly
what I'm doing so I can concentrate on performing; and
3 - from all the information that's been given to me, I figure out the
character's emotional state and add that in to my interpretation of the
lines I've learned.
Above all, I remember that all I have to do is my best. It's enough for me
to give my own personal take on the scenes I'm given, and not try to be
anyone other than myself. The casting director/director/producer isn't
looking for the best actor but for the person who best brings their image of
the character to life.

You've always been amazing in everything you've done. How do you choose the right script for you? ~ Robert
Thank you for enjoying my work, Robert, and thank you for the question: it's an interesting one!
When I was working with Pierce Brosnan on Percy Jackson, someone asked him why he had agreed to do Mamma Mia. He answered that work is work, and, in a profession where work is hard to find, it's a good idea to accept whatever opportunities come your way.
This is how I view most every project that comes my way: I'm very grateful to be offered the opportunity, and I accept it with pleasure.
That being said, however, there are indeed times where I have not accepted or pursued a role. The roles that I will not accept include characters that engage in animal abuse or gratuitous violence, and I will usually also not accept offers from production companies or producers who have a track record of not completing their projects. Other than that, though, I'm usually open to anything, no matter how vile and despicable my character may be as I believe it's part of an actor's job to explore, understand and portray all types of characters.
Have you got any current/upcoming projects that you would like to tell us about? ~ StarsQA Team
The big news this month is that Ben Demaree's Hansel vs. Gretel was released on January 20th! Yes, this cool action/horror feature that I'm in is now available at Amazon, Vudu and Best Buy, among other places, and here's where you can find it on Amazon:http://www.amazon.com/Hansel-Vs-Gretel-Brent-Lydic/dp/B00OHLR6KU/ref=sr_1_1?s=movies-tv&ie=UTF8&qid=1421617014&sr=1-1 You can also take a look at the awesome trailer right here: http://youtu.be/rdzSWZDN4p4
Do you have a motto that you live by? ~ StarsQA Team
The motto that I try to live by is one that I actually made up myself. It's "Choose To Be Kind".
What is considered your good luck charm? ~ StarsQA Team
I don't have one, but I DO pick up random cool things off the street and keep them with me. I have a stuffed turtle, a couple of marbles and a Chinese decoration in my car at the moment that we all randomly picked up off the street. It gives me joy to think that these lost things have found a new home...
Who is your favourite Disney character? ~ StarsQA Team
My favourite Disney character must be Tigger from Winnie the Pooh because, after all: A Tigger's A Wonderful Thing!
If you were king or queen for a day, what would you do with your power? ~ StarsQA Team
If my power extended globally, and I could do almost anything, I would turn everyone in a super-empath so that, when they hurt someone or something, they themselves felt the hurt that they had caused. This would, in my opinion, almost instantly make everyone treat everyone - people and animals - with more respect and consideration.
Absolutely! Two of my features, the murder-comedy CLUB LINGERIE and the scifi-noir WAY DOWN IN CHINATOWN, were released online and can be found on Amazon. Two further features, the fantasy-adventure FARAWAY, and the horror LIVE-IN FEAR, both of which I co-produced - as I did with Chinatown, by the way - will be coming out over the next few months so there's a lot to look forward to!
The year is coming to an end, did you achieve your new years resolution(s) and have you set any new ones? ~ StarsQA Team
My year's resolution was apparently to work myself to a standstill, and, yup, I succeeded in that! My 2015 resolutions will include taking more time to myself and learning how to relax... and this translates into watching more movies and reading more books!
Do you have any special family traditions around this time of year? ~ StarsQA Team
I wish I had, but I don't. I've always wanted to be a part of a huge family during Christmas time, but I'm an only child so that never really happened. Maybe one day...
